15 Weeks

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

My baby bump at 15 weeks from the side:

And from the front:

Total Weight Gain: According to the scale, I lost another 2 lbs this week, putting me down a total of 8 lbs so far.  I have to start gaining weight soon, right?

Movement: I haven't felt anything yet.  It's probably still too early, but occasionally I find myself concentrating really hard looking for those first little flutters.

Boy or Girl? I can't wait to find out!

Food Cravings: Still apples.  I look for good ones with every trip to the grocery store.

How I'm Feeling:  Pretty good overall.  I love having a pregnant belly.  I can eat like a normal person again (or at least as well as I ate before.)  And for the most part, I have my energy back, unless I stay up too late, which is happening a lot lately.  Thank you Olympics.  My only complaint is that since the Little Sprout is squishing everything, I get uncomfortably full after lunch, no matter how little I eat.  I don't mind too much though, it usually doesn't last long before I'm hungry again.

Size of Baby: Navel Orange (4.5 in and 2 to 3 oz)

Baby's Development:  Baby is now constantly practicing breathing, sucking, and swallowing so he or she will be ready to survive after birth.  By now, baby's ears are positioned properly on the sides of the head and the eyes are moving from the side of the head to the front of the face.

Best Part of this Week: It's not baby related, but the Olympics started this week.  I am super excited!  In other news, I feel like I am really starting to look pregnant now, not like I ate too many cookies!

What I'm Looking Forward To: My next appointment is next week.  I love having that confirmation that Baby M is doing well!

Dear Sprout,

Monday, July 30, 2012
As each day comes and goes, it seems like you'll be coming home in no time.  I'm really excited to see if you'll be into football or tea parties.

While I always say you must be a boy, I know it really won't matter to me.  You are really going to mix things up around here.  I'll try my best to be ready for you.

Take your time to grow big and strong...but not so much so for your mother's sake.  See you soon!

14 Weeks

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

My baby bump at 14 weeks from the side:

And from the front:

Total Weight Gain: I gained a pound this week! That puts me back to being down only 6 lbs so far.

Maternity Clothes: I wear at least one piece of maternity clothing almost every day.  So comfy!

Sleep:  Still good at this point, though I am sure that being uncomfortable sitting up will soon move to being uncomfortable laying down.

Movement: I still haven't felt anything yet, but I can't wait to feel those first flutters.

Boy or Girl? Still don't know.  Hopefully we can find out the first of September; this waiting is killing me!

Food Cravings: Apples.  I really really really want a GOOD apple.  Fall cannot get here fast enough!

Food Aversions: Nothing!

What I Miss: Being able to comfortably sit in a chair for any length of time.  I can't believe this has started already.  Yay!

Size of Baby: Lemon (about 3 inches and 1.5 oz)

Baby's Development:  At this point, baby is on the move almost constantly.  Baby could also be sprouting some hair, and his or her eyebrows have started to fill in.

Best Part of this Week: Being at the beach.  I loved getting to relax by the ocean and catch up with friends and family I haven't seen in a while.

What I'm Looking Forward To: Feeling Little Sprout move.  I know it could still be another few weeks before I feel something, but I can't wait!

Dear Sprout,

Saturday, July 21, 2012
There has been a lot going on these past couple of weeks.  About a week and a half ago, your daddy and I went back to the doctor to make sure that you and I were doing okay.  Everything went great, and Daddy and I got to hear your heartbeat.  It made me so happy to be able to hear that you are doing well and growing strong!

This last week we went on our annual family beach trip.  I can't wait until next year when you get to join us.  I can't wait for naps on the beach, splashing in the water, and digging in the sand (although you'll still be too small for some of that next year.)  Everyone else is excited for you be there too.  Your grandpa is excited about having someone else to dig his world famous holes for and build sandcastles with.  And I am sure that next year your Uncle Travi will ask for your help in talking to the ladies.

There is still a lot to do before next year though.  It is time to start getting ready for your arrival.  I feel like there is so much to do, but it is going to be so much fun!

Keep growing healthy and strong little sprout!  I love you lots!

13 Weeks

Sunday, July 15, 2012

My baby bump at 13 weeks from the side:

And from the front:

Total Weight Gain: Lost 7 lbs so far.  (I lost another .5 lbs this week...hopefully I will start going the other way now.)

Maternity Clothes: Mostly all maternity bottoms.  I have worn a couple of maternity shirts, but just because I have them and they are cute.

Sleep: I sleep pretty well at night, but most days I still wake up tired.  That could be because I need to go to bed earlier, but since I have gotten some of my energy back I find myself staying up later.

Movement: I haven't felt anything yet, but I can't wait until I can feel those first little flutters.

Boy or Girl? Still don't know, but I can't wait to find out.

Food Cravings: This past week, I have really wanted an Icee, but I still haven't gotten one.  I also really want a juicy, crispy apple, but since it isn't apple season, none of the grocery stores have good ones.  I am so ready to go apple picking this fall.

Food Aversions: Absolutely nothing.  I am a normal person again!!!

What I Miss: Nothing...I am loving being pregnant right now!

Size of Baby: Peach (about 3 inches)

Baby's Development:  Baby's body is growing rapidly to catch up to the head.  Baby's head is now about half the size of its body.  Baby's intestines have started moving to their permanent place in baby's abdomen.  Over the past week, baby's vocal chords have started to develop.

Best Part of this Week: Getting to hear our little sprout's heartbeat at my 12 week appointment.

What I'm Looking Forward To: Being at the beach!  Although I guess that doesn't really count since I am at the beach right now!

12 Week Dr. Visit

Wednesday, July 11, 2012
Today was my 12 week check-up with Dr. H.  Corey got to go with me again in hopes of hearing our little sprout's heartbeat.  Once again, I feel like we waited forever once we got to the office.  20 minutes of waiting in the lobby followed by another 30 minutes of waiting in the exam room.  It was well worth it though.  We did get to hear the heartbeat.  It was a strong and steady 165!  It is so comforting that our little baby is still growing in there.  And he or she will be here in about 6 months.  That is crazy!

12 Weeks

Sunday, July 8, 2012

My baby bump at 12 weeks from the side:

And from the front:

Total Weight Gain: Lost 6.5 lbs so far.  (No change this week.)

Maternity Clothes: I can officially no longer wear regular pants, unless they have an elastic waistband.  So, at this point, I am wearing mostly maternity pants with regular tops, skirts, or dresses.

Sleep: Pretty good, except for the middle of the night bathroom trips.

Movement: I'm sure our little sprout is wiggling, but he or she is still too small for me to feel anything.

Boy or Girl? We should find out in September.

Food Cravings: I haven't really had any cravings lately, but I am starting to eat like a normal person again.

Food Aversions: Not really anything.  Yay!!!

What I Miss: Nothing...I am loving being pregnant right now!

Size of Baby: Large Plum (2.5 inches long, weighs about .5 oz.)

Baby's Development: Baby is pretty much done with the task of developing new bodily structures and is entering the maintenance phase.  Over the past week, the fetal digestive system has started to practice contraction movements, a skill it will need after birth.  The pituitary gland has started producing hormones, and the bone marrow is now making white blood cells.

Best Part of this Week: Yesterday, Corey, Mom and I went to Buy Buy Baby to look at baby things.  We picked out the stroller, car seat, and pack n play.  It was so much fun looking at all the sweet little baby things!

What I'm Looking Forward To: My next appointment is Wednesday.  Hopefully, we will get to hear a little heartbeat!

Dear Sprout,

Thursday, July 5, 2012
Hello little one!  I can't believe you have been growing for almost 12 weeks now.  It seems like just yesterday I was waking your daddy up super early to tell him about you.  Some days it seems like January will be here in no time, and I will have to hurry to get everything ready for you.  Other days it seems like it will be forever before I get to see your sweet little face.

I love you so much and can't wait until the day that I get to hold you in my arms.  I think everyone in our family feels that way.  Your grandparents, aunt, and uncles are just as excited as we are.  Your Uncle Travi was gone for over a week recently on a mission trip.  As soon as he had phone service again, he sent me a message to ask how you were doing.  You are going to be so loved and spoiled.  I hope you are ready for lots of cuddling, hugs, and kisses!

I ate a...

Wednesday, July 4, 2012

And it was delicious!  As silly as it sounds, I missed cheeseburgers so much!

I think my eating habits are finally getting back to normal.  I am so happy that I can pretty much eat anything again!

Happy 4th everyone!!!

Food Cravings: What I want to eat has drastically changed this week.  Now all I want to eat are sweet things.

What I Miss: I am just ready to eat like a normal person again.

Baby's Development: Over the past week, hair follicles have started for form.  Fingernail and toenail beds have started to develop.  Over the next week, fingernails and toenails will start to grow.
